Extraction 2018
Ontario, China, August 26-29, 2018

Extraction 2018 was the industry’s first collaborative global metallurgy conference focused exclusively on extractive topics, including business and economic issues. Held in Ottawa from August 26-29, the event drew hundreds of industry professionals and thought-leaders from around the world. The education was top-notch, and delegates created lifelong memories during social events and ceremonies. A. Deniz Bas penned this retrospective, a stroll down memory lane.

Saturday, August 25: Prior to the industry’s first collaborative global metallurgy conference, short courses were held. These classes provide a great way for professionals to keep up with current trends. Extraction 2018 offered four short courses during these two days. Exploring Advanced Thermodynamic Process Simulation Tools: From SimuSage to Coupled CFD + Thermochemistry based Models with COMSOL+M4Dlib+ChemApp was held over two days, while Metallurgical Accounting: Principles and Main Applications and Solvent Extraction in Hydrometallurgy: Principles, Flowsheet Design, and Selected Applications were one-day courses, and Reducing the GHG Footprint of Pyrometallurgical Processes was a half-day course. The short courses attracted more than 85 people.
