The keynote lecture "High technology metals: Facts, Fiction and Recycling" will be presented by Prof. Jens Gutzmer of the Helmholtz Institute Freiberg for Resource Technology, Germany.

Jens Gutzmer is the founding director of the Helmholtz Institute Freiberg for Resource Technology and professor of economic geology and petrology at the Department of Mineralogy, TU Bergakademie Freiberg, Germany. Born and bred in Northern Germany, he received his Diploma in Mineralogy from the Technical University of Clausthal-Zellerfeld in 1993, followed by a PhD in Geology from the Rand Afrikaans University (South Africa) in 1996. Following academic positions at Rand Afrikaans University, the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster and the University of Johannesburg (South Africa) he was awarded a South African Research Chair in Geometallurgy in January, 2008. In July, 2008, he took up his current appointment as full professor at the TU Bergakademie Freiberg, followed by his appointment as director of the HIF in 2011. In 2015, he also acted as founding CEO of the EIT Raw Materials, the world’s strongest consortium for innovation in the raw materials sector.
