Hello Everyone,

There's been a lot going on at MEI Towers in the last few weeks. We have been busy preparing for Computational Modelling '17 and Physical Separation '17, which were held here in Falmouth a couple of weeks ago; you can read all about them in their respective Conference Diaries (linked above or below in Barry's Blog).

We are also very excited to announce that we have come up with a whole new conference series:
Developments in the Processing of the "Hi-Tech" Metals. Hi-Tech Metals '18 will be the first in the series, and will be held in Cape Town in November 2018.
This series will deal with the mineral processing and extractive metallurgy of these metals, and the environmental problems that are often associated with their extraction.

Of course, I mustn't forget to tell you that the winner of this year's MEI Young Person Award was Swadhin Saurabh, who received his award at Physical Separation '17. Swadhin currently works as a Project Manager/Senior Process Engineer with Millcreek Engineering Company, based in Salt Lake City, Utah.
You can read more about him here. Congratulations Swadhin from all of us at MEI!

And finally, there is now a Call for Papers for next June's conferences, Sustainable Minerals '18 and Biohydrometallurgy '18, both to be held in Windhoek, Namibia.
Prof Sue Harrison of UCT will be giving a keynote lecture at Biohydrometallurgy '18 entitled, "Towards sustainable development of mineral resources – the role of biohydrometallurgy".
