:: Fairbreeze Award

Ticor South Africa has awarded the detailed design of the wet concentrator for its new Fairbreeze mineral sands project to HBH Consultants, based in Perth, Western Australia. HBH will design the plant in its Perth office, and will support subsequent construction and commissioning by deploying personnel to South Africa. The Fairbreeze plant will operate on an ancient dunal deposit of mineral sands on the east coast of South Africa, south of the town of Mtunzini in the Province of Kwa Zulu Natal.

HBH has completed several such plant designs for Australian clients, including the Tiwest Joint Venture, of which Ticor Ltd owns 50%.

In announcing this award, Peter Broadbent, HBH’s principal responsible for mineral sands projects, said “HBH is very proud to have won this work against international competition, and to be entrusted once again with a major project strategically important to Ticor’s future production. Winning the Fairbreeze project indicates that HBH is now recognised internationally for its contributions to the mineral sands industry. Our team is really looking forward to building a strong working relationship with Ticor in South Africa."

The scope of work includes a 6 Million t/a relocatable wet concentrator, and ancillary services and equipment. Ticor plans to commission the Fairbreeze plant in March 2007, subject to board approval.
