:: Abu Dabbab Processing Plan

Gippsland Ltd's 50%-owned Abu Dabbab tantalite deposit in Egypt is currently the subject of a feasibility study by Lycopodium Pty Ltd. Initial work on the study has found that the metallurgy of the mineralisation means that the majority of the tantalum pentoxide (Ta205) can be recovered via the use of enhanced gravity separation techniques. The remainder of the Ta205 can be recovered using a tin smelting process, yielding tin metal and a glass containing Ta2O2.

The study has also found that the project could produce a high-quality feldspar, low in deleterious TiO2 and high in desirable Na2O and K2O, for use in the ceramic industry.
