:: Cadia Awards Separation Process Equipment Order to Eriez Flotation Division
Eriez® Flotation Division (EFD) and Eriez-Australia have been selected to supply Newcrest Mining’s Cadia Valley Operations (Cadia) in New South Wales, Australia, with proprietary separation equipment which will be utilized to recover gold and copper from a concentrator tailings stream. The EFD equipment order includes two HydroFloat™ Separators and four CrossFlow® Classifiers.
EFD has designed, supplied and commissioned more than 1,000 flotation systems worldwide for cleaning, roughing and scavenging applications in metallic and non-metallic processing operations. “With strength and expertise in process engineering, equipment design and fabrication, EFD has assumed a leadership role in meeting increasing global demands for minerals flotation systems—especially for coarse particle recovery,” says Jaisen Kohmuench, Managing Director of Eriez-Australia. “Our team has successfully led projects, operations and businesses related to mineral processing across the globe. HydroFloat Separators for coarse particle mineral concentration deliver the capacity of a density separator while maintaining the selectivity of a flotation device. Using a novel aeration system to disperse fine bubbles into a fluidized-bed environment, the HydroFloat Separator significantly increases the selective recovery of coarse particles by applying flotation fundamentals to gravity separation. This technology can be applied to coal, iron ore, industrial minerals, base metals and sulfides. Applications include coarse particle recovery in split-feed flotation circuits and scavenging of tailings. It can also be integrated directly into grinding circuits.
Eriez' CrossFlow Separator is a highly efficient hydraulic classifier for the separation of material based on particle size, shape and/or density. This technology can also be used for desliming, counter-current washing and acid neutralization of minerals. The CrossFlow separates particles based on hindered-settling principles, providing an economical and efficient means of classifying material such as silica and frac sands, mineral sands and industrial minerals.
This technology was featured at COM 2017, which took place August 27-30 in Vancouver, BC, Canada. At the show, Dr. Brigitte Seaman of Newcrest Mining presented a paper she co-wrote with colleague Luke Vollert which explores recovery of coarse liberated gold particles using pneumatically assisted fluidized bed flotation, specifically Eriez HydroFloat technology.
