:: Ok Tedi Expands Gravity Gold Circuit

In April 2005 Ok Tedi expanded their gravity gold circuit with the installation of two 4'x8' Sizetec Step-Deck Vibrating Screens and two 100tph KC-XD30 Knelson Concentrators.

In 2000, Ok Tedi realised the need for a gravity gold circuit and installed four 6tph 12inch Knelson Concentrators in their flotation regrind circuit. This installation immediately proved to be a success with a high grade gravity product produced from the flot regrind circuit.

In the year 2004 alone these four small Knelsons produced over USD$12,000,000 worth of gold. More significantly, even with this gold production no change was noted in the final copper-gold flot concentrate grade! Thus all of the revenue generated by the 12inch Knelson circuit was not previously being realised by the plant.

As a result of the success of the existing gravity circuit, Ok Tedi elected to move forward with the installation of a new USD$2,500,000 gravity circuit in late 2004.

Due to the proven success of the 12inch units, a decision was made to install dual KCXD30 30inch Knelson Concentrators. Ok Tedi also elected to purchase the ConSep manufactured Sizetec Step Deck Vibrating gravity feed screens for the circuit.

Sizetec screens represent a new product for ConSep. Although common in North America, the product is new to Australia. The Sizetec Step Deck Screen is ideally suited to the demanding duty of gravity circuit feed applications due to its combination of high efficiency and anti-pegging features.

Each of the two Flotation Regrind Mills has one 4'x8' Sizetec screen and one KCXD30 Knelson Concentrator.

Ok Tedi does not produce a gold dore on site, rather producing a high grade (1%) gravity gold concentrate directly from the Knelsons. The concentrate is dried and packaged on site, then sent to off-shore gold refineries.

ConSep expects the new larger gravity circuit to be in full production by the end of April 2005, and production results from the new circuit shortly thereafter.

Both the Knelson Concentrators and the Sizetec Screens were manufactured in Australia by ConSep.
