:: New Particle Analyser Saves Time

US-based Rotex Inc. has launched its Gradex® 2000 particle-size analyser. The new unit is controlled via a PC which enables its operation to be fully automated. The system uses standard 20 cm diameter full- or half-height sieves and can analyse individually loaded samples, multiple samples staged for continuous testing or it can test on-line in conjunction with automated sampling devices. Rotex says that using preset test configurations, the Gradex 2000 shakes and taps the samples using the same stroke and frequency rate as typical manual shakers. The unit automatically classifies and weighs each sieve fraction, calculates and stores weight values and transmits data to the PC.

Rotex says that performing analysis at the point of sampling can provide users with immediate results. The Gradex 2000 improves test quality by eliminating manual steps where operator errors often occur. Furthermore, the electronic data-transfer eliminates the potential for transposition and calculation errors. The unit can be used to test a wide variety of materials and has a balance capacity of 5 kg, and a balance resolution of 0.1 g.
