:: Finnish Contractor Cooperates with Metso on Development of new Lokotrack ST3.5 Mobile Screen

Finnish earthmoving company Kivikolmoset Oy is well justified in referring to its new Lokotrack ST3.5 mobile screen as its "own machine". Kivikolmoset and Metso worked in close cooperation in development of the new mobile screen. One of the most prominent features on the ST3.5 that was desired by the client is the optional vibrating grid, which facilitates fraction feed.

The new, two-deck Lokotrack ST3.5 further increases Metso's extensive track-mounted line of mobile screens. The machine offers both outstanding screening capacity and high mobility. The size of the screen deck (3580 x 1500 mm) combined with the 74.9 kW Cat C4.4 engine guarantees ample working power.

The ST3.5 is designed to be even more user-friendly and reliable to operate. In addition to the use of high-quality parts, another guarantee of the new machine's quality is its assembly at Metso's Tampere plant in Finland.

After the first several thousand tons of screening, Kivikolmoset Oy's opinion of the new mobile screen in Central Finland was exceptionally positive:

"I have to admit that Metso really got all the pieces to fall into place on this one. The screen is a balanced unit, where the screen size, engine power and hydraulics have all been integrated to form a functional whole," says Asko Pulkkinen.

"The ST3.5's quiet operation alone shows that high performance can be achieved at a low 1,800 RPM. "We've been able to get up to a screening rate of 600 tons an hour on natural gravel. The fuel economy is also amazingly good: just over 10 litres an hour on average."

Company founder Eero Pulkkinen emphasizes the importance of the optional vibrating grid, especially when screening at rocky sites:

"The vibrating grid effectively screens out cobblestones from the feeder, thus only requiring dumping in special cases. You have to seriously load this screen with an excavator to keep up with the screening rate," exclaims Pulkkinen.
