:: Larox Wins Contracts in Australia

Larox has received orders worth of approx. 5 million euros from mining and metallurgical companies in Australia. Orders received consist of different types of solid/liquid separation filtration equipment with ancillaries to three separate plants. Deliveries from the Larox product factories in Lappeenranta, Finland and Utrecht in the Netherlands will take place at the end of 2005.

The delivery to BHP Billiton’s (BHPB) Ravensthorpe nickel project in Western Australia consists of a fully automatic Larox pressure filter and a Pannevis horizontal vacuum belt filter. The Pannevis filter will be washing mixed hydroxide precipitate prior to main filtration through the Larox PF filter. Ravensthorpe’s annual production will be up to 50,000 tons nickel and 1,400 tons cobalt in a mixed hydroxide product. Plant commissioning is scheduled for 2007.

Queensland Nickel’s (QNI) Yabulu expansion project has ordered a Larox PF filter for nickel carbonate filtration. QNI is the Queensland nickel business of BHP Billiton. Its annual production capacity is 30,000 tons of nickel and 2,000 tons of cobalt. Larox has delivered several filters to BHPB’s plants in different parts of the world. Also QNI has Larox filters in operation.

The third order for a Ceramec capillary action disc filter came from First Quantum Minerals in Perth, Australia. The final destination of the Ceramec filter is the Guelb Moghrein mine in Mauritania where it will be used for copper concentrate filtration.

The received orders strengthen further Larox’s position as one of the world’s leading filtration solution providers for the mining and metallurgical industries.
