About the role

As a Graduate Metallurgist, you may be rotated through different departments dependant on commodity, bringing a unique experience and developing a well-rounded experience. In the area of throughput, we constantly assess our circuit performance to identify bottlenecks. We engineer and modify our assets to ensure we fully utilize our plants’ capacities. For yield we analyse our waste streams to ensure our resource is recovered efficiently. Finally, for cost, we aim to achieve the above in the most cost-effective manner, we do this by reducing waste, reducing consumable usage, and maintaining our assets operating at their process optimums.

A typical day for you may include extraction of metals and minerals from ores and refining the extracted metals to reduce impurities and improve value. You will assist in improving the process that separate, concentrate and recover valuable metals from ore. With around 1.2 million tonnes mined every year, the processing plant must keep up with large quantities and the team often fine-tune their processing methods in order to keep recovery rates high.
