This, the 1^st International Symposium on Hydrocyclones (Hydrocyclones 2003), was organised by Minerals Engineering International and was sponsored by Axsia Mozley of the Axsia Group.

The Hydrocyclone is one of the most widely used separating devices in industry. It would be difficult to find a mineral processing operation in the world which does not use this device, but it also has wide use in many other industries, such as the chemical, oil and gas, pulp and paper, and food industries.

Hydrocyclones '03 was a multi-disciplinary conference, where users of this ubiquitous device came together to discuss different approaches to common problems.

The conference was timed to immediately precede the XXIIth International Mineral Processing Congress, which was also held in Cape Town, to give minerals industry delegates the opportunity of attending both meetings in this wonderful part of the world.
